The name of my business "Xing" is a Chinese character that is made of the word "gold" repeated 3 times. When I was a child, my mother once considered changing my name to Xing-Xing, hoping that having gold x 6 in my name would bring me prosperity and fortune in life. My name was never changed but I became a metalsmith. I'll never know what prosperity that name would have brought me, but every time I sit down at my bench to fabricate metals into small objects of wonder, I feel like the most fortunate person in the world.
